Build A Better Block... With Blockboard!

To celebrate Blockboard's launch in San Francisco, we're announcing our Build A Better Block contest. It's our way of giving back to the communities we serve.

What's the contest?
The first five neighborhoods in San Francisco to sign-up 500 members on Blockboard will each win $5,000 to help build a better block!
No way. $5,000?!
Way. That's $5,000 for the whole neighborhood (not for you personally; settle down).
How do I enter?
Simply install and sign up for Blockboard, then ask your neighbors to do the same. That's it! We'll notify you if your neighborhood is one of the winners.
What is the money for?
It will be used for a neighborhood improvement project that benefits everyone. The sky's the limit, but here are some examples to get you started:
  • Host a neighborhood-wide event or party
  • Beautify a public space
  • Fix-up a playground
  • Clean up a local park
  • Install public art
Who decides the project?
You do! Winning neighborhoods will use Blockboard to post project ideas and vote on them. The most popular idea will win.

Of course, Blockboard reserves the right to make the final call. But really, we'd much rather that you and your neighbors make the call. Just don't suggest we give everyone in the city a fixie or a lifetime supply of PBR and we'll be good. :)
Who actually gets the money?
That will depend on the project that you and your neighbors settle on. Blockboard's preference is that a local, registered non-profit manage both the funds and the project. Having the help of a local organization is going to make things easier for everyone. But if there isn't a non-profit that is appropriate for the project, Blockboard will just pay the costs directly to whatever vendors or businesses are involved.
